Brush & Brunch -INTUITVE Painting

We will meet on the paint deck or outside, weather depending, from 10 am 1 pm getting the brightest light of the day.

WORKSHOP FORMAT: Participants will create their own unique piece of art on a canvas, using brushes, mark making tools and acrylic paints to take home by the end of the class. Supplies included. This class or the 1-1 Mentoring is prerequisite to Painting as Practice. My intention is to help you unblock any fears around art making, help you feel free to use art for self-expression and have fun.

Part 1: Background: Students will explore an intuitive approach to acrylic painting and mark making while investigating different elements of drawing, brushwork, and surface quality within a painting. The way that paint is applied and expressed is an integral part of one’s visual language, inherently impacting how a work of art is seen, felt, and interpreted. Experiment with the processes that generate exciting, authentic and unique works of art tailored to developing your personal style.

-Brunch Break- Bring your own snacks and enjoy some seasonal freshly picked and prepared fruit from the land, such as coconuts, avocados, mangoes and star fruit. Water and tea provided.  Walk the land to collect of photograph flowers and leaves, be insired by the lava flows and ocean views.

Part 2: Embellishment – In this part of the class we will discuss how to look at your abstract color background composition and then add more into it. Often, it’s best to have a few people look at your image to help you find that hidden inspiration, we will see what we can all help you discover within the patterns.
