Painting as a Practice
This is an opportunity to expand your painting practice or to start to develop one for yourself in a supportive, relaxed, and beautiful setting. Artist will be self directed while enjoying the synergy that magically happens between artists.

About the event
Express your Visual Voice! This open studio group art day is designed to help you expand upon your personal style, work through any blocks and develop your own painting practice through the support of a group.
COST: $22 BYO supplies or $44 which includes a 16”x20” canvas and the use of paints & brushes.
TIME: 3 hrs. We will meet on the paint deck, from 10 am to 1 pm to get the brightest light of the day. Bring snacks, water and any art supplies you currently use or purchase a canvas and the days use of various paints and brushes. Easels or table space available for all.
YOUR HOST: Laura McClanahan, MFA
Laura has been an artist and teacher for over 20 years. Her exhibition experience is in the NYC area and international art market. Her Master of Fine Arts degree is in Studio Art, with professionalism is abstract painting coming from a background in architecture, photography, and color darkroom photograms. Studio Art is an exploration of one's personal concepts through a matching medium. As one's ideas change over time, so may the medium used. This "Painting as a Practice" for groups and Laura's 1-1 Artist Mentorship program, addresses this evolution for artist intended to help them along in their creative journey through any type of art medium or life changes. Laura's goal is to help you maintain your creative flow no matter what life may bring and provide a safe and supportive place for artists to practice, cross-pollinate and expand. Join in Laura's other monthly classes as well, in Pohoiki: Brush & Brunch, Mandala Painting Meditation and in HPP: Paint & Dine.
WHERE: Location is a private home in a Kipuka, a diverse 8-acre private property in Pohoiki, Hawaii, surrounded by the 2018 lava flow where endless inspiration can be found. “‘Io’s Landing” was named after a found lava formation that looks like a hawk with its wings out standing on the ground.
