Welcome to the Art Studio of Laura McClanahan
Laura McClanahan is an abstract visionary artist, intuitively filtering the seen and unseen worlds onto the canvas with fluid patterns and crystals in resin. Her research includes her past undergraduate studies in organic architecture and her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art thesis about water called “Chaos Patterns”. Pour painting, color theory and vibrational healing are the threads that her painting concepts follow. For a creative muse, she plays a 36" Flower of Life gong in her sound healing meditation practice named, "Creative Frequencies" with her husband Kirt Thoren. The couple are actively restoring a property surrounded by the 2018 lava flow and setting up new art and sound studio spaces. In 2020 they relocated to Hawaii from the East Coast area where Laura exhibited in New York City galleries and with International Art Fairs. A large collection of her paintings are for sale at Gemstone Gallery, Frenchtown, N.J. Her paintings are in permanent collections at The Haegeumgang Theme Museum on Geoje Island in South Korea. She has several installations of paintings in private temples, stores and air-b-n-bs around the Hawaii Islands. Inspired by the ever present energies of the sea, stars and lava flow landscapes, Laura’s work addresses change and how we can go with the flow to evolve spiritually and overcome obstacles in our path. Locally in Pohoiki, Laura offers 1-1 art mentoring, "Painting as a Practice"-open studio art days, and art studio visits.
